On the 12th of September, Liang took the stage at Omeara for her first ever headline show – a night that would be filled of love.
Opening this night, was the band ‘Esme Emerson’, consisting of a sibling duo that create indie/folk music. Their style of music translated perfectly live, with the same production levels. They also have a very warm tone to their music, their voices blending seamlessly. Even though some of their songs are slower/ with less production, their stage presence was highly there, with the audience completely fixed on their wonderful performance, as you can really hear every lyric. My favourite song from their set was, ‘Please’. A perfect opener for Liang as I felt their warmth presence in both their music and Liang’s.

Onto the headline as the crowd anticipates eagerly. Liang takes the stage, everyone knowing every word straight away to each song, old and new. Her newest release, ‘Out Loud’, was one track that stood out to me throughout her beautiful performance. Her magical vocals, tied with her incredible band building up the production through this song creates a beautiful live performance. A song about love, and I felt the love from the audience the entire night. Also within the night, there was a beautiful string section, which is always a live addition I love. Specifically seen during the song, ‘Growing’, all about getting older and the nostalgia of such. With isolated vocals, and a beautiful string section, it was definitely a favourite of the night. This was also a slightly reimagined version of the song, which was interesting to hear. There was also a fan project during the song, holding up hearts around the crowd, which was a wholesome element of the night.

There was also room to dance of course, with more upbeat production in songs like, ‘Use Me’. The energy was high and the room was electric. I definitely saw the energy radiate back to Liang herself, as she was enjoying every minute, her natural stage presence captivated the crowd, with her authentic lyricism. There were also a few moments of the crowd cheering extremely loud for a while, definitely sharing that love for the singer, as she has a moment of realising she had just performed her first sold out headline show.
A rising star, that I see selling out many arenas in the near future. You can sign up to her mailing list below to be the first to know when she is next playing a show or releasing a new song!
